its not bast opinion but queen vic was the conquerer of all time
genghis khan was good but probably ranking second
I'm going to point out that Queen Victoria had one of the greatest militaries in the world at it's time and Ghengis Khan had practically nothing to start with and never exceeded 500,000 warriors IN HIS ENTIRE EMPIRE of pretty much all of Asia.

Re: Greatest Conquerer in History
I know this is after a week. I'm not saying anything about which I have no idea. Spartan did point out that Genghis Khan started out with nothing. Queen vic was probably was one of if not the best thing to ever happen to Britain. But Genghis Khan started out with nothing and died with one of the greatest territorial accumilation of any person in history.

Re: Greatest Conquerer in History
I still back either Alexander the Great, or Julius Caesar. Hannibal would be my first choice, for Cannae but he took a humiliating loss at Zama.
Alexander never lost a battle he personally led. He took down an Empire, and brought Greek culture to Asia. He was outnumbered in pretty much every battle, and as he progressed further and further, his forces became more and more comprised of Persians and native soldiers, rather than the well trained Macedonians. And yet he still won.
Julius subjugated all of Gaul in 8 years, and managed to stomp on the Britons toes a little. Before he just turned around and completely roflstomped Pompey. His greatest triumph? The battle of Pharsalus. He wiped out a Pompeian force that was double his strength in numbers, and had cavalry superiority, and an easily defendable position. AND YET HE FUCKING PLOWED THROUGH THEM! What makes this victory so great is that, he was facing soldiers who were directly equal to his own men. There was no advantage to Caesar. He was at a crippling disadvantage from the start. And he still comes through. And then he just decides to take Egypt while he's there, and then does a swift campaign in Pontus to top it off.

Re: Greatest Conquerer in History
The world's greatest conquerer is Chuck Norris. Most people don't even realize that they've been conquered by him, he does it so efficiently.

Re: Greatest Conquerer in History
the first human leader is the greatest conqueror as he would have led the first human tribe thus having conquered 100% of humanity. No man since has achieved that.

Dragoon...*sigh* Why am I even bothering? You're still going to make idiotic comments.
Now, while what Alexander did was very impressive, Phillip pretty much set it up for him. Julius had the legions, so how the hell was he not going to take out the Gauls? Ghengis Khan had nothing but horse archers and lancers, and a total population of 500,000, and he nearly conquered all of ASIA.

Re: Greatest Conquerer in History
Conquered is hardly the right word for what the Mongols did. Ghengis Khan defeated all of Asia one people at a time, and then just left. Once he left, he never enforced his will on the people he had allegedly conquered. They likely never heard from him again. He was just an angry man who liked to go around picking on people weaker than him, and that happened to constitute most of the singular peoples.

He pulled a Cyrus, but his empire survived himn, unlike Alexander's.
