If you didn't get the code with the game, the Cereberus network costs 1200 MS.
EA's a bit of a douche like that.
Because it's the only way to access Mass Effect 2's DLC.
Sounds like another douche move on their part.

Why do you think I hate EA?
They always pull off shit like this that makes my blood boil.

If you get it preowned or rent it, you're fucked.
I do feel that the massive preowned game industry does hurt game developers, but I think was a pretty radical and unfair step to stop it. A digtial download would be more prudent.

No, not sarcasm.
Spore was going to be great, until EA got their greasy tendrils all over it (giggity?).

No.
But I agree, Spore had so much potential. For a great game of spore just play the cell stage (because come on that was awesome), Populous, Medieval Total War, Civilizations, and Civ has a space game too. I've not tried it but it looks good. I'm not really sure of a good space empire builder. Maybe one of the Dune series. Or Star Wars or something.

I think the Cerberus Network thing was a brilliant move by EA. The used game business is extremely shady. They dont see a penny of the money brought in from used games. They made the game, they should get the money for them! Getting the Cerberus Network free when you buy it new is a smart strategy.

Re: Mass Effect 2
Places like Gamestop whore themselves out with used games, any time I've been in your country and been in one there are huge iles filled with pre-owned games. The same is present and it especially becomes a problem when you see pretty recent titles like Dark Void and Bioshock 2 preowned about £10-£15 pounds cheaper.
Sure This a good way to stamp out that culture a tad, which is why we're seing a lot more Pre-order bonuses with games, to try and entice people to buy it new, but honestly, in the future the simplest and easiest way to avoid this is make them digtial downloads.

Re: Mass Effect 2
My problem with digital downloads is the future. I must have at the very least £150 invested in Steam, and that won't last forever. I might be incredibly lucky and have them last another 20 years, but what about when I get nostalgic and want to whip out the Medieval Total War?
Online support for Halo 2 recently went down. What happens when this turns into Halo 4 (only an example, relax) going offline entirely?
So yeah, I don't even have my xbox connected to the net and I dont really mind. So long as they keep making physical permanent games I'm happy.

Re: Mass Effect 2
Honestly, I still have all my PS1 and N64 games and I will keep them because I do go back and play them, so digtial downloads are worrying.
Hopefully if you save them on your hard drive, they're there for life. We won't see mainstream digital downloading distribution for at least another 15 years, definately not this generation or the next.
