Favorite Moment in ANY game
There has been something like this in the past, but it was focused on halo moments.
What is your favorite moment of any game?
My personal favorite is the part of Mass Effect where you speak to the ancient Prothean artificial intelligence construct. The plot-twist of the reapers having built the citadel and mass relays was the most epic of any I've ever witnessed.
I don't think I've ever been so immersed in any game as I was then. I remember feeling a real sense of discovery and amazement with talking to a computer system that had been alive many millions of years before the Human race even existed.
Amidst a moment in the story where time was of the greatest importance, I had no problem standing and talking to this thing, asking it every detail, for some ten minutes before moving on.

Golden Sun: The lost Age
You've faced countless creatures, you've been all around the world, you've saved lives, you've egnited three lighthouses, and now you're at the last lighthouse. As you attempt to light it, the Wise comes and attempts to stop you. He brings down a three headed dragon which you must fight to save your world. Once you kill it, you feel a sense of accomplishment, the journey is almost over, when you see what makes the dragon. It's your parents. You've killed your parents to finish your quest.(or have you?)
favorite moment, as the game gives you that sense of accomplishment, and defeat at the same time. truely a great moment I've had.

Re: Favorite Moment in ANY game
My favorite moment in a game.
It's not really from the game's plot(I'll think of one of those later), but still pretty good.
A few years ago, before I had an XBox of my own, me and my brother were at his friend's house playing Halo.
They were on the last level(I forget wich difficulty) and they were within site of the Longsword, I was watching.
Within about 30 yards of the fighter, the Warthog is flipped, and they're surrounded by Flood. My brother was on the side closer to the Longsword, and his friend was pinned between the Warthog, a wall, and a bunch of Flood.
Instead of the heroic, "Go on without me!" thing they would say in a movie, my brother's friend says, "(Korn)! Come and get me!"
My brother says, "But I can just get to the ship!"
So his friend sits there and yells at him to come back for him, but my bro just runs to the ship and ends the level.
His friend was pissed, it was hilarious.

Left 4 Dead
Jake and I were playing on Dead Air
A tank came running at us at the crane part and it hits jake at the smaller building with the piping running all over it
the tank managed to hit jake at the piping from there he hung to the side of the piping 3 feet from the ground
(i think this was on advanced or expert)
the remaining two computers and me battle the tank very slowly while jake hangs from his 3 foot death
we managed to kill the tank and i turned to go help jake up and his person fell and died on impact
so i basically saw his person drop dead 3 feet from the ground
i laughed for a long time afterwards

One time when the Striders use their blue beams of death in city 17.
I flew across two buildings and skipped some of the lvl
(and I think that's scripted when they use their beams, but I'm not sure)

That's high on my list, that scene was very well done, and that I chose my name from that AI.
But I going to say another Bioware title for my favourite.
I think the reveal that you were Darth Revan in KOTOR was amazing

Aeris dies...
The cutscene itself, the out of place boss fight that works so well juxtaposed with Aeris' music and the hatred and empty vengeance you want to take on it, the sadness, Cloud's speech, and the bitter uncertainty that comes with Cloud's past.
Also Sephiroth burning Nibelheim does well in portraying the clarity and reason in his insanity. You know there and then he's working on a cosmic level.
