Rush Limbaugh

Post by CivBase on Wed Mar 11, 2009 4:10 pm

I'm getting sick of seeing people blow up at how "the most infulential Republican in the US wants the president to fail."

First off, he's infulential, but so what? He has as much freedom of speech and freedom of press as anyone else. The government has no right to shut him down. Besides, I doubt he's as infulential as they claim, or he'd have so much support that this would never have been an issue.

Secondly, why does it matter? A study not to long ago showed that 51% of democrats wanted Bush to fail, but did anyone get upset by that? Now all of the sudden a single guy wants the new president to fail in order to justify his opinion it's a crisis? Sure, it's rather dumb of him, but who cares?

I think Obama is just desperate to look good, even though he obviously isn't the best candidate for the job (even the democrats here have to agree to that).

Those are my thoughts. What do you guys think?

I think the titular individual of this topic should have his life ended using some sort of flammable gas.

Obama stands for socialism and spreading the wealth around. That's why Limbaugh wants him to fail.

What I find funny is that he proposes an idea for the stimulus bill which MIGHT help, and you get people like Pieman who say that drug addics shouldn't have anything to do with politics (But Bill Clinton is OK, and girlfriend-murdering Ted Kennedy gets a standing ovation) and how "He's not an elected official, so he shouldn't make or propose policy".

Very dangerous mindset, that last one. People hate the man, but he's right on occasion. I haven't listened to him too much, so I'll guess that he's correct 55% of the time.

Can we have a link to a specific story quoting Obama as wanting to federally intervene with the media, and more specifically, Limbaugh?

A lot of idiots are influential. To cite another... Glen Beck

You're right, he's not the best man for the presidency, but he's in the oval office and there's not much "change" that can be made to that for another four years, at which time he will likely be re-elected. So, lets stop complaining that he's the president, and start complaining about his actions.

Unfortunately, Ron Paul never would have won with all the attention he DIDN'T get.

That's because nobody knew who the hell Ron Paul was. Funny how the most frequently covered candidate ended up taking home the gold...

I'm not complaining about Obama. Can I not talk about anything negative the president does simply because I didn't vote for him? Sounds like what Limbaugh's going through Razz

I thought Obama's cabinet had something to do with it.

If not, then my view really hasn't changed that much. Instead of Obama being desperate to look good, those who voted for him and supported him are desperate to make him look good (thus making themselves look good).

As for Glen Beck, he's not being criticized.

I kinda like Glen Beck, though. He's not perfect, obviously, but quite a few of his views make sense. More sense than either McCain or Obama.

Glen Beck is an ignorant douche bag. He flipped out when Obama mentioned "non-believers" in his speech, and again when he found out that Obama didn't place his hand on a bible when sworn in for the second time.

And, what views of his make sense?

I myself don't like GTA at all. The only thing about the game that I find fun is killing sprees while using an ungodly amount of cheats. The rest is just smut. Do I think it's as bad as he says? No, but I don't agree with him on everything, something I said in the last post.

I'm not complaining about Obama being president. Where did I complain about him being president? I said the exact opposite last post! READ!

Like I said, he's not perfect. I don't follow the guy blindly, but if you just watch his show, you'll find most of his views to make sense.

You want an example? I looked up the Glen Beck Show on youtube, and here's the first result I found: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sZwPkTmqfpg

I liked Huckabee... Ron Paul seems okay as well. McCain was probably the worst Republican they could have chosen, and neither Obama or Hillary were any good.

I was commenting on you making a point that he's not the bes candidate. I just don't think that's relevant.

I see what you did der.

Found me a clip of Glen Beck supporting Ron Paul. Well played

As a side note, I'd suggest you play GTA IV. It's actually really good with writing (especially dialog) and has a great story for atleast the first half. I would agree though, that the previous games sucked in those categories.

Actually, that is one of the first that came up. Just thought you'd like that one ^^

Eh, I might take a look. I don't really like the drug and sex themes very much though...
