The current war is not working like past wars.

Instead of helping the economy, the Iraq war is just throwing money away.

War hasn't helped the economy since the Korean War. We moved from full war production to war contractors producing specialized weapons and supplies.

Seriously, did Ford produce tanks for the Vietnam war? Were Civilian Conservation Corps gathering scrap metal to make grenades?

Half of the troops in any war want to go home. Seriously, remember the Iran-Iraq war? How many of your troops really wanted to be there.

Yeah, to get into college, you really need to join the army. /sarcasm.

I don't know anyone joining the Marine Corps for free college.

Personally, I joined to build self direction, and self-reliance, to see the world, and fun & adventure

hell, thats the first thing th recruiter has us do is really pin-point WHY we want to join.

That's his choice. He knows what he's getting into.

We've been over this before. The death toll is so minuscule though the entire war that I can't see what you're all worked up over.

Neighborkid?

Well, anyways, Bush did a lot other than Iraq, but if you're in the middle of a war, what do you think is going to be covered most? It sure as hell isn't going to be dying people in Africa.

Hmm...
I guess you're right...
Oh, wait, since you are OBVIOUSLY a well informed citizen of the USA, and a proud patriot, tell me what Bill Clinton did in the last half of his second term.
And tell me what Bush Sr. did other than kick Iraq out of Kuwait.
Tell me what JFK did other than setting up the Peace Corps and beating Kruschev in a pissing contest.

Note how I said MARINE CORPS.

Of course people would join the army for free college, because that's all the army can provide them and they're too much of a failure to get into college or a self-respecting armed force.

Muscles Are Required, Intelligence Not Essential, SIR!

Seriously, NT, the whole Marines vs Army is getting rather old.

It's still true though.

Everyone in the armed forces notes that the Army is the lowest American branch. Hell, all the civilians that deal with the armed forces note that.

and if we are ever in a total war setting again... the marines are gonna be begging for the armys help in battle... because the marines and Army's pirposes in battle are different

the marines are better suited for smaller operations because they bring everything they need with them

the army splits up their Logistics and Fighting forces.... but the Army is going to be the one who moves into an area and holds it... the marines are just gonna be the ones soaking up all the bullets in the initial assault....

Army and Marines are both part of a big fighting force.... no one force is any better or worse... as they are each equipped for different situations.... a Navy SEAL would wipe the floor with any other branch of the military's personell.... but that doesn't mean the NAVY is the best either....

Army - Big battles (which havn't really been seen since WWII) occupation force. Tanks, Infantry, fixed wing planes, helecopters, APC, Humvee

Marines - small scale assault... short missions... need backup from army once logistics run out... or the marines have to pull out. Less vechicle support than army, tanks, infantry, helecopters, APC, Humvee

Navy- Naval and air warfare... big missiles... nukes... only use on land is SEAL teams... who are used for small covert ops missions. Boats, Submarines, Fix winged and movable winged planes, limited helecopter, Sailors recieve some training with guns... but mainly to fend off a boarding party

Airforce - work with naval carriers to get to battle... usually bomb.... hardly any dogfighting since WWII. Airplanes, helecopters.... Airforce infantry are also referred to as dead
