Fallout: New Vegas

Post by Vigil on Mon Apr 20, 2009 4:54 pm

A new Fallout game has been announced and it's being made by Obsidian. Most interestingly Obsidian Entertainment was founded by Fergus Urquhart who, along with a few other Obsidian guys, worked on the original Fallout.

So it could be a return to the old Fallout style.

It's expected to be released next year.

I saw a boxset like thing of Fallout 1 and 2 at tesco when i was with my dad.

Its look kinda cool.

I hope they do make a game in that style again.

Western RPG... which is actually more relevant to the term "rpg" than japanese RPGs nowadays.

But no. This game is going to be a spin-off of fallout 3. It's going to be the same play style... taking place in Las Vegas. It's not going to be an overhead turn-based dungeon crawler.

Which is really what Japanese RPGs are.
Which is what I was making fun of in the "I hate them" thread.
Nothing more pointless than a dungeon crawler with a cliched story.

'Dungeon crawler' is more of of an early Western RPG style/theme. JRPG really just means "Final Fantasy ripoff," these days.

Indeed.

I'm going to give FF XIII a try though. I haven't played any since I played a bit of VII, and I want to see what it's like now.

This will be similar to Fallout 3, but different.

P.S. Broken Steel comes out on the 5th May, the day of my last exam!

Huzzah!
