Swine Flu

Post by Zaki90 on Thu Apr 30, 2009 2:13 am

Here in Texas, people are getting scared of Swine Flu.

There are only 93 cases confirmed in America. The symptoms are no different than regular flu.

A guy on my brother's baseball team has it. Not sure there's anything to debate on...

its a flu, whats there to debate about.

Its the same thing as human flu except this strain is being spread by pigs, and people who have been in mexico.

Just drink plenty of liquids, keep your immune system healthy and you should be fine.

Its not even lethal, My doctor says it behaves just like the normal flu, if anyone is goign to die from it, its people who ignore its symtoms, are elderly or are children.

Well...
THe swine Flu:

Is actually more dangerous than the regular Flu, but that is because of the lack of a Vaccine

Is Easily Transmitted(were just lucky that we caught it while it was intially spreading)

Is Quite capable of reaching pandemic proportions before a Vaccine is created.

It targets not only the very young and the very old, but the healthy young adults as well.

Is spread like the regular Flu, except it infects more than just Humans

Its only a problem if it is allowed to continue to spread. Although its spread is slow, if it ever gets out of controll in one area it could get pretty nasty.

And yes, it is lethal, like all strains of Flu. A bit moreso actually.

The regular flu infects healthy adults also.

Its only more lethal becuase most states dont have stockpiles of vaccine available

Yes it does, but the Swine Flu targts them more, as in it can bypass and overcome the Immune system toa ctuall infect them much more easily

Thats only becuase that strain of influenza hasnt been in contact with your average human adult. So naturally your body doesnt know how to defend against it as well as say, regular flu.

Other than that the swine flu is almost the same as regular flu except for a few extra symtoms.

Treatment is the same and unless you have a condition that makes the regular flu deadly (asthma for an example) its not lethal if you arent a child or elderly and provided you know how to deal with human flu.

But the treatment is easy is just like regular flu.

All Flu is easily spread.

Pandemic propotions... psh posh... the effects are mild. It doesn't kill if you stay home, get lots of fluids, and do all the regular stuff.

So does regular Flu.

Other animals like pig and bird. Answer is obvious. Don't eat pork or birds.

And I am just really pissed about the amount of fuss about such a small and plain flu. Obama had to talk about it. The media is practically tripping over themselves about every case.

The Media overplays everything, you need to half every number they say and play down any "Crisis" they have until you find a better source of information, I asked my doctor for example.

Also Swine flu doesnt spread through food it is perfectly safe to eat pork as long as its cooked hot enough to kill anything still alive in it.

And there is no Pandemic, It cant be a Pandemic unless it changes continent or kills millions of people, the swine flue is predicted to have a slightly higher kill count then that of the regular flu and that's only because it has the element of surprise.

Don't eat pork? Are you trying to kill me!?!?!?!

You don't tell an Iowan not to eat pork! Bad things happen to people that tell Iowans not to eat pork.

It's been blown out of proportion.

Tammyflu is been shown to be able to treat the it, and lower it's symptoms, and we have millions of pounds of the drug stockpiled in London alone.

Inflenza can be nasty but the main people at risk are children and the elderly.

I really doubt it will be the next black death.

Are there any Jews in Iowa?

Maybe they're waking up from some sort of virtual-reality that we all unknowingly reside in?
