Star Trek

Post by KristallNacht on Mon May 11, 2009 10:13 pm

Was awesome, it was truly just what Star Trek always should have been.

though some hardcore fanboys may dislike how it intentionally rewrites the timeline (but explains the issue away, so its not like 'hahaha we don't care about old information blahblahblahblahblahb' but more of a 'you see, we decided to form an alternate timeline through the use of black holes and the like')

I was going to see it last night instead of X-Men (see X-Men thread) but some guys 6 feet in front of me bought the last ticket. I'm probably going to see it sometime through the week though.

I shall see it. And yes, we do need a movie section. That way, one person could just put the whole movie online. Very Happy

I've watched a few reviews and a brief plot summary.

The consensus is it's a good film, but a bad Star Trek film. It has more continuity holes than a piece of swiss cheese. And the time travel idea is okay, but some thngs don't make sense to me.

Why would Nero wait 25 years in the same spot for Spock. I know he's pissed because of what happened, but that's really insane.

How can a mining ship, even if it is 125 years from the future, be armed with hundreds of missles and be more than a match for a consitution class cruiser.

If you want a good star trek film, go watch the Wrath of Khan.

Vigil, there are no continuity holes.

and they didn't wait in the same spot, the had to find the place spock was going to come out of.

and if you noticed, the ship had mining explosives and mining lasers. not just like full combat missiles.

I saw the Star Trek movie on the weekends. It was simply Awesome!
It was really actionpack, and the storyline was still great.
It made me want to see the original TV series and movies, my Dad has seen them, and he told me a bit about the storyline and stuff, and it sounds just as Awesome.

Really? The fact they basically threw all the previous stuff in the bin except for enterprise. Not to mention it's one big time paradox.

Or, they could of done the smart thing, and gone and warned Romulus of it's inpending destruction , by telling the exact stardate the sun would go supernova, and giving them the ship's databanks on the event, as it was there. Or if he really wanted rvenge on Spock that badly, why not just go to vulcan and kill him when he's just a baby, or klill his parents, so he was never born. He could of been a lot more proactive about it.

True, but I really doubt that mining technology from 125 years in the future would be enough to take on and destroy warships with such ease. It's like using a chainsaw on guys with swords and shields. You'd probably take out a few, but you;d only need a couple to stop him.

But I digress, I don't really mind that much, as I had lost interest in Trek anyway. I just don't like JJ Abrams.
