Terminator Salvation

Post by ReconToaster on Thu May 21, 2009 6:42 am

So I uh... just got back from seeing it. It's 2:25 AM 2:45 AM and I have to get up for school at around six, so I'll make this quick, and post more tomorrow.

Visual effects of 'Transformers' + Visual effects of 'Dark Knight' + Story and acting of 'Water World' = Terminator Salvation

This movie is a bucket full of canon flaw, and inappropriate allusions. It is CERTAINLY not the war Sarah Conner told us about. It's something much more enriched with giant mechs and conveniently ergonomic Terminator-cycles. Complete disregard for nuclear radiation is abundant, and the story itself is nothing of the emotional mind fuck Kyle Reese described to the girl he impregnated.

To further my point, I feel it is necessary for me to reveal that Michael Ironside, the guy from Total Recall, Starship Troopers, and the command and conquer Cut-scenes, is in this movie. He plays just about as corny of a character as his role in Command and Conquer.

I'd recommend watching it, if only so that you can get a proper taste of fail. It wasn't as bad as Terminator 3. It feels like the director behind it at least respects the franchise, and was not so eager to exploit it with sex appeal. On it's own, it's ACTUALLY a pretty cool movie. When compared to something awful, like Transformers, it actually IS quite good. It is not, however, Terminator. It seems nothing will EVER be anywhere near as fantastic as the original.

Another swing and miss.... meh

4 hour sleep?
Sounds like lots and lots of fun to me.
Sounds like less fun than watching the movie.

They made them minor characters in their own damn film!!!

The entire garden bit had my palm pressed firmly against my face.

Start was cool though.

it was hardly horrible. It was both coherent and straight shooting.

I didn't like Transformers. I thought it was dumb. That girl watched Shia LaDouche's car turn into a FUCKING 3 STORY TALL ROBOT and calmly said "You have weird friends."

WTF? I'm not asking for an amazing narative. I understand that it's all about robot fighting and CGI, but seriously, at least TRY to incorporate some decent character development, or dialog.

How about the part when he's trying not to wake his parents when the autobots are just running around his fron lawn. Would that REALLY be your first priority in the event of a alien robot invasion? To not get in trouble with your parents?

You're not allowed to laugh Death no More. You like Terminator 3... pale

Don't even get me started with Transformers 2. I saw the preview in the theater before Salvation came on. I guess Shia LaBeouf got tired of being part of the most amazing even in human history, and decided to get a new care, go off to college, and live a normal life.... WOW

Plus, they bring Megatron back from the grave, and Shia also has a piece of the allspark in his backpack, which I guess he never noticed...

Anyway, I know you said it's a bad terminator movie, but is it atleast a good movie in general?
