Far Cry 2

Post by Gauz on Thu May 21, 2009 11:24 pm

Anyone here have it?

I am borrowing it from a friend and wonder if I should be on the APR's (Alliance for Popular Resistance) side or the UFLL's (United Front for Liberation and Labour) side..

I currently, am on the UFLL's side but I think the APR would be cooler..

Sorry Vigil

Death, it really is a fun game. You can choose to do a lot of these fun missions and such. The only problem I have is that at every single fucking outpost they always attack you, it gets annoying.

I don't like it. I have it for the PC, which, without trying to star a flame war, is the platform it was built for.

It is a wonderful tech demo, and shows potential. There was a really tense scene in the opening (for lack of better term) cut-scene, where you're driving across a bridge and this group of guys stops you. You feel freaked out, and like they could blow your head off at any moment.

I like that feeling. In the actual game, however, you don't get that. You know, for a FACT, that EVERY single person you come by is going to just hop in their jeep and chase you down.

Seeing as there is no fast-travel, it becomes impossible to get anywhere without having a near death experience. I really want a game in this setting, with these visuals, with more elements of Choice, and less obnoxiously frequent, overwhelming combat.

There's one part where you can gun down this entire outpost. You kill at least ten men, only to find some guy locked up in a meat locker. Your character instantly goes to help him... for no reason other than human kindness.

You just gunned down an entire outpost, and you don't have the option of shooting this guy that you just happened to come upon? bleh.

I agree...

The game I do believe is still good, but I wan't even more freedom than you currently have. Although, your 'buddy' that you save does help you out.

Except Warren Clyde, that bitch makes you do extra work for missions..

I like no fast travel, adds realism to the game

it also makes getting places take forever unless the levels are designed intelligently

I would like it to, but everywhere you go is CONSTANT shooting. If it was less of a schizophrenic environment, I'd love to drive everywhere.

Far Cry 2 didnt impress me. The constant combat got annoying after awhile. Especially when your about to complete a mission only to have your head blown off by a shotgun fired from someone you couldnt see. the lack of freedom was also a suprise. You would think a game like this would offer more freedom. The map pissed me off. It was hard to read and you had to pull it out, so if someone spots you, you dont have a lot of time to look at the map that's blocking line of sight.

I liked Morrowind's travel. No fast travel, but a vast array of boats, teleport services and silt-striders.

I don't like it how in some game they have a huge and beautiful environment, and you just fast travel from one place to another.
Like in Oblivion I liked how every now and then you had to venture out into the wilderness. the only thing I didn't like about it was the fact you can look at the awesome scenery, then travel a few miles and the scenery is exactly the same. You might of well have just stayed in the same stop.
