WIreless shit

Post by Kasrkin Seath on Sat Jun 06, 2009 3:14 am

So yeah... I want a wireless mouse and keyboard, but they dont have the signal strength to reach my comp from where I want to use them.

I have been thinking of how to solve this. I have come up with three possibilities off of the top of my head.

1. Boost the signal strength inside each of the two appliances.
The problem?
It would be really fucking hard to do and I dont feel like doing it anyways.

2. Get or Build a repeater.
The Problem?
Well, no place around here sells any that cost less than $100, and I cant find a plan to build one otherwise I would.

3. Change the recievers' location.
The Problem?
Im not exactly sure it would work. Basically, what this would be doing is it would be wrapping(or connecting) a wire to each reciever(the part that connects to the comp) and then connecting that by a hard wire to basically a large aluminum sheet in the cieling above the area the mouse and keyboard would be used. This should essentially work as though the wire and the aluminum sheet were the reciever, and thus theoretically allow them to work within the range of the wire and sheet.

Well, if number three worked I would do it. Anyone ahve any thoughts/ideas?

Well, I have a wireless keyboard and mouse for my computer and so far I've gotten it to work about 15 feet away before losing alot of signal strength. They're from Logitec and they work pretty well for the most part, the only problem is that they both guzzle power like its cocaine to an addict, and the charger that I bought for my mouse doesn't work very well.

Maybe you could move your computer closer to the designated area if at all possible.

Why would you be that far away in the first place?

My comp is in one room. It is connected to a Big Screen HD TV in the next room so that we can watch videos off of it. If I could have a Mouse and Keyboard out there, I could Browse the net, play games, etc. all from the living room couch.

Plus, Big Screen HD TV>Comp Monitor

Well, there are some Keyboards and other computer equipment that you are actually able to sinc. to your TV, I don't know if you are able to get your hands on it, but it might be worth looking in to.

most HDTVs have a VGA pc port.

The uber new ones tend to also have a DVI pc port. Overall the DVI will give you even better HD resolutions, as VGA maxes out around 720p on HDTVs and the DVI goes upwards of I guess what you could call 2048p lol
