THEY POINT OF GOING TO CHURCH IS TO MEET WITH OTHER CHRISTIANS AND GROW TOGETHER IN YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH CHRIST.

IT IS MY OPINION THAT THE MEANING OF CHURCH HAS BEEN POLLUTED AND CHANGED FROM IT'S ORIGINAL PURPOSE OVER THE CENTURIES. ALL CHRISTIANS ARE GOD'S CHURCH. THE CHURCH WOULD NORMALLY MEET AND DISCUSS PERIODICALLY. EVENTUALLY WHEN THE CHURCH CAME OUT OF HIDING THEY WOULD BUILD BUILDINGS SPECIFICALLY FOR MEETING ON SUNDAYS. EVENTUALLY THESE BUILDINGS BECAME KNOWN AS CHURCHES, AND ALL OF A SUDDEN CHURCH BECAME A PLACE INSTEAD OF A PEOPLE. IN MODERN SOCIETY PEOPLE OFTEN GO TO CHURCH BECAUSE THEIR PARENTS WENT TO CHURCH, AND THEY FORGET THE REASON THE CHURCH IS THERE. YOU AREN'T MEANT TO DRESS UP AND PLAY CHURCH EVERY SUNDAY MORNING BECAUSE YOU ARE A GOOD CITIZEN, YOU SHOULD GO THERE BECAUSE YOU WANT TO KNOW AND GET CLOSER TO YOUR GOD. IF THIS IS NOT THE REASON YOU GO, OR YOU SIMPLY DO NOT GET ANYTHING OUT OF IT, THEN THERE IS NO POINT ON GOING.

THERE WAS A POINT IN THE BIBLE WHERE GOD BECAME SO DISGUSTED WITH JEWISH CHURCH THAT HE TOLD THEM HE WOULD FROM NOW ON IGNORE THEIR PRAYERS AND TURN AWAY THEIR OFFERINGS. HE WAS DISGUSTED WITH HOW THEY SIMPLY WENT THROUGH THE MOTIONS WITH NO SINCERITY OR MEANING BEHIND THEM. I FEEL THIS IS THE WAY IT IS WITH MOST PEOPLE THAT GO TO CHURCH.

What do you mean? He asked what the point of church was, and I responded with my opinion on the subject.

Had he posted something along the lines of "I LOVE CHURCH," I would not have responded in such a way. However, because he asked, I told him how I feel.

With what do you disagree about in my post? The part about bringing children into the faith by (often) utilizing veggie tales? The part about offering comforting ideas to its community in order to improve people's perceptions of the world around them? The part about Church promoting moral behavior?

I don't see where you find offense.

TH POINT OF CHURCH IS TO SHOW YOUR FAITH AND COMMITTMENT TO THE RELIGION, AS WELL AS MEET OTHERS WHO ARE PART OF THE RELIGION. ALMOST ALL RELEGIONS HAVE A "CHURCH" OR OTHER GET TOGETHER OF THAT NATURE IN WHICH PEOPLE CAN GET TO KNOW AND BECOME FRIENDS WITH OTHERS OF THE SAME FAITH.
