Not sure if I like this, but hopefully this OS will kill the mac, hopefully.

It'll fail. A: They're basing it off of Linux, which is so unpopular that I have yet to see one in action. And B: Google Chrome is a suckish browser, so why would anyone want to go with a full OS?

Linux is unpopular because it is difficult to use for the mainstream consumer. It is also unpopular because nobody knows what the hell it is. The return rate on all those linux netbooks HP started putting out was something like 60%. People loaded it up, didn't know what the hell it was, and sent it back.

The difference here is that:

A: It's google. People know google, and they trust the name to be a provider of quality software. They will be more open and comfortable by something with the google name.

B: It won't be like linux, in the sense that it won't require a good deal of knowledge/experience to get working on a consumer-ready level. Much like something along the lines of Firefox, it will be well equipped from the start, at which point you will be able to add onto it. This is google. they know how to make user-friendly software.

C: It's heavily based on the concept of Cloud computing, which makes this an extremely beneficial OS for netbooks, and other low-end mainstream devices with little processing power of their own.

This is not a rival to Windows or OS X. It's not going to be an operating system that you will want to install on your home computer. It is a simpler OS for netbooks and other low-end products, and it will probably be very successful in that market.

I didn't say Linux was a bad system. Like I said, I've never used it.

You should use it before you say it's an awful browser.

I can't try everything. Sometimes you have to judge by what someone else says. Perhaps that someone else was wrong. It happens.
