Strange Creatures in Halo Legends

Well, I was trying to look through the Halo Legends trailer to find some glimmer of hope, but all I found was this. What the fuck is this thing and what does it have to do with Halo?

First one was said to be really old Elite armor. Second is just not canon...at all.

It's a failtacular Elite Brute thingy. I say, this will fail so hard that a second Grand Canyon will form.
