Next on my list is Portal 2, and maybe Bulletstorm.

Homefront was always going to be one of those games I was likely I'd get after the dust had settled and the price had dropped. This just confirms why that logic was justified.

If I ever see this game for cheap soon (at least $40), I wanna pick it up. The multiplayer looks fun to me.

But the truth is, too many damn games this year have my attention. Just as everyone else has said before me.

So, what would it take to get you guys to buy a new shooter? What do you guys think is the next step for shooters to take?

I got it, and it's quite fun. The campaign is alright, there's been a few spots where ther were no objectives and I was a bit confused as to what to do, but its nice not being baby feed. Multiplayer is really fun. Large maps, lots of specialties, and plenty of weapons. Could use more maps, but with three sections in each map I'll let that slide.

I like the moving battlefront instead of rounds system, and I haven' run into any campers, probably due to the battlepoints not resetting after every death. Also, the vehicles and drones don't seem too overpowered.

Atleast rent the game and try it before you put it down.

For realistic games:
Fully modeling both the interior and exterior of vehicles and having to traverse from position to position in first person, and none of the you can be the driver and gunner at the same time stuff for vehicles. More realistic machine guns that overheat and can eventually break their barrel, but also having replaceable barrels.
A good suppression system.

For all games:
Being enjoyable in both competitive and public games.
Being fun.
Paying attention to detail.
Listening to their community.
A good replay function.
More interesting environments/maps.
Good spawn system.

A shooter that was story-driven and focused, with great voice work and dialog. Also using the first person perspective well would also help. I'd also like a bit more of a challenge or at least a varaition from the bland duck and cover against the same aliens/russian etc.

If multiplayer had to be there, I'd like something accesible enough to allow anyone to play at least competantly, and those who spent real time learning the subtley of the system would be rewarded without become too overpowered. Also it would have to be a a crazy level of balanced, so whenever I died, I didn't feel like the system was fucking me over.

No, because I don't think that mutliplayer is balanced, and I have no care for the story, or the AI teammates that constantly give you ammo and make you suppress the enemies for them, along with all the scripted events.

I would liken it to if Bioshock was released for the first time now, in terms of story techniques and narrative structure.

You didn't get what I meant originally about scripting. In HL2 the scripting doesn't interfere in the gameplay and seemlessly with the action. If in MOH I have to wait for an enemy to move to a specific spot and perform an action in clear sight and after a hail of gunfire after I shot him, your doing scripting wrong.
