Well it does give a basic model for the worst possible case scenario of an outbreak. If we can handle that we can handle anything! And people are working on HIV.

Damn right. I made my custom built automatic-triple barreled-laser sighted-heat seeking shotgun for a purpose....................besides hunting teh squirrels.

When the zombies come, we will be the ones to outlast them.

Zombie infection is enirely possible, at least a l4d version (Minus special infected) because that is just a mutagen of the rabies virus. If Influenza can mutate to animals to humans or humans to animals then so can rabies. A mutagen of rabies that is contagious for humans would could cause increased aggression (just like in animals) as well as other symptoms. Although, increased aggression is the main symptom that would be needed to be a "zombie".

Although they really should study that kind of zombie, which would have a fully functioning motor system rather that a slow zombie.

They were going to, but came to the conclusion that if that happened we are all doomed.
