and if you don't like blender try Wings or other 3d programs...

I prefer wings, but you should try out a number of programs to find which one is right for you.

Blender probably isn't that hard once you know the basics... but I don't know the basics, and tutorials have a habit of going through details and basics at the same time, so they're just a lot of reading with little results.

no, I taught myself blender at home

I am learning 3ds max at school
