Get ready for detail transitions like you've never seen them before, (why cant they fix that stupid problem?!)

um what?

idk what a 'detail transition' is but I can assure you none happened in Mirror's Edge.

the detail transition, like when your switching scenes, and everything looks smooth and the detail slowly appears on the models. Mirrors edge and Gears 2 were released pretty close to each other in terms of time. Hopefully because DS has a different developer, they might fix it.

how many of these games have 'detail transition'?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Unreal_Engine_games

i'm pretty sure thats a choice the developer has to decrease load times by having streaming loads as opposed to full loads.

this is entirely true, but plenty of those listen don't have such things.

unreal engine is one of the best engines on the market IMO

people don't realize that not every human in the unreal engine is rendered like a football player in armor... thats just EPIC games... which is basically the only complaint I ever hear about the Unreal engine

i've never experianced whatever RL is talking about...maybe your console is just broken?

Gears of War made me mad at unreal.... I fucking hate the characters and how they look in both games.

Well, its in the two games I have that use unreal engine, mass effect, and GOW-GOW2

you know, when the scene or camera changes to another area, and the textures look like they sort of appear on the objects? The objects are originally not detailed looking, sort of like clay, and then within a second or two, the detail appears on them. I think this happened with Halo 2, but it only lasted about .5 seconds.
