Tianamen Square

Post by PiEdude on Sat Sep 05, 2009 8:10 pm

I was hoping to make a video about it to the song of Requiem for a Dream, but...

Someone kinda beat me to it...

I'm still gonna make a video, but I'm just gonna use a different song.

Well anyway, for now, just discuss the actual event while I make my vid.

I'm not exactly in love with the Chinese, I just don't hate them.

I hate the communist government run by a small group of old Maoist/Marxist/Atheist/Super Communist men, but I don't hate the Chinese people.

Hell, the victims of Tianamen square were Chinese citizens themselves.

Well... on topic

I didn't do much research or studying on the topic of the massacre, so I wouldn't know what to say. Oppresive governments are bad?

Why are you making a youtube video of that 30 year old event in which there are already videos on youtube of that 30 year old event that already use the music of virtually all compilation videos on youtube?

can you find a better use of your time?

Speaking of horrible military atrocities committed against Asian peoples....

Most shameful moment in US history I think.

That's 1 of a 7 part video btw.

I read about My Lai every now and then and think "Wow..."

The sad thing is, give a bunch of conscripted men guns and put them in a place they don't want to be in, and don't be clear about what they're supposed to be doing, and that massacre was inevitable.
Ever see Apocalypse Now, Recon?

As for you Pieman... I've got your song right here. By Roger Waters on the album Amused to Death.

Except someone beat you to that too.

Vietnam was different.

Soldiers were pushed past their breaking point by guerilla insurgents who literally put babies in soldiers hands and blew them up.

In Tianamen Square Chinese soldiers fired on unarmed civilians, most of them students, that had never posed any sort of threat to them physically.

In 'Nam, the soldiers just lost their minds.
In the Square, the soldiers from other regions (the ones from the Beijing area wouldn't fire on the students) cold heartedly slaughtered people that had never harmed another human being, and had no affiliation with anyone who had. The Chinese soldiers hadn't even endured combat hardships, they weren't exactly green, but they had never before fired shots in anger.

Following orders.

They brought in troops from a completely different part of the country.

That's what I said Rasq.

My point was, the first group did not follow their orders, and did not fire on the civillians.

The other group did.
