Would you do it?

Post by Ascendant Justice on Sun Sep 13, 2009 3:13 am

Time and time again we see/here about this sort of situation in movies and novels. A person is badly wounded, whether they're body is covered in burns, or every bone in their body is shattered, or whether they are looking at their own entrails, they beg you for death.

The person is someone who you love, whether it be a friend, family member, or significant other, they beg you for death but you dont want to do it.

My question is this, would you kill them? If they were suffering from pain beyond comprehension and begging you for death, would you kill them?

I probably would but then again, I have never been in that sort of situation.

EDIT: By the way if anyone has any better suggestions for a thread title, then please say so.

In alot of those situations, where they are in great pain, if it is really that bad they would probably be going into shock and stuff so it wouldn't really matter

Depends entirely on the situation, so I chose unsure.

Depends upon whether death was inevitable or not.

I don't think I know a single person that would realistically ask for death. Look at Roadside Picnic - a human being will always take that next breath of air so long as it is available to them.

If that was true there wouldn't be such a thing as suicide. Suicide is all to real so this is not true.

I know somebody would say that. Ignoring the fact that I don't know anyone who would try suicide, one: it's a damn metaphor. two: it's talking about people who are already dying.

If someone tries to hang themselves or drown themselves and you pull them out, what's the first thing you hear? I wager it's *GAAAAAAAASP*.

That's involuntary.

Also, people who have terminal and painful sicknesses often ask their doctors to "pull the plug".
