It's an RTS made by a Company called creative Assembly and quite possibly the second greatest RTS ever. It takes place in the Medieval Ages and you basiclly have to build an empire. I'll let someone else go into greater detail.

I downloaded it a couple of months ago, but ended up deleting it to make space on my hard drive.

To understand Kingdoms you must understand the concept of Total War games.
Total War is very unique, I can find no other game to compare it to. It is more or less a combination of both massive, realistic, and tactical real time strategy battles with much slower, in depth, risk-ish style turn based world domination. Basically you build your empire and armies on the campaign map (turn based aspect) and every time there is a battle you have the option to fight it on the battle map (RTS aspect)
Total War has always been the best of both worlds and together they create a massive world domination orgasm that I have probably spent as many hours playing as Halo 3 multiplayer. The games are:
Shogun:Total War
Medieval:Total War
Rome:Total War (the best)
Medieval 2:Total War
Empire:Total War (the worst)
Kingdoms is the expansion pack for Medieval 2 Total War.

ETW being the worst is still better than most RTSs out there.
