Halo Fanon
Hello everyone:
Many of you who are familiar with Halo fan written/created material have come to the conclusion that half of it is made by 12 year olds who generally are not good with information (22kg super pelicans). I propose we stratify Halo fan base material, so that the more professional fan fics and user created content are not clumped together with the MS paint super warthogs and fan fics where the Elites and Humans fall in love (if you are familiar with the Halo Wars forums, or halofanon.wikia.com, you probably know what I mean.
I really would like to safeguard the fan side of the franchise so that it makes it seem as though there is a professional side to being a Halo fan.
Basically, if you are familiar with Halopedia or halofanon.com, I would like to make a site that is sort of like a hybrid between the two that takes pre-screened material that is deemed suitable/logical/reasonable and sponsor it on our website. The way the Fanon will be accepted is when it is presented to us, we will convene and decide whether or not the material is acceptable/logical/etc... and the member who is prime in the field of material presented to us will decide whether or not it will make it in. Ideally this site will comprise of only the best Fanon out there, and will be regulated by the leading Halo fans in their field. Also it is reccomended that we are highly conservative when allowing material in, because the more simple things are, the better, which means story congruency, and design congruency, one thing will not intrude over something else. The best of the best only, after all, does Halo deserve anything less? especially now when the games are in dire need of upkeep.
Because I feel that some of us really have hit the nail on the head when it comes to Fanon, we should pronounce ourselves in a meaningful manner, for instance, this mod is a window to display creative talent, but in reality, only a handful of people will ever see it, and it most certainly will not be noticed by the higher ups. So if you wrote some really kick ass story, and you want to share it in a way it was meant to be displayed, then this site may prove an attractive alternative to other websites.
Should we feel that our material is any better then anyone else's? Hell yeah, if we spend that much more time and effort into making it half decent in the least, so why not do something with it?
Hopefully by doing this, we may gain some attention. I felt that generalizing our material to other mods may help with legitimizing said material, but I now realize that, even though other mods are using them, it is unlikely it will ever get noticed or elevated to a point beyond any other material.
I posted this on the BLS site, but seeing as most of you guys stay here...

Re: Halo Fanon
why not just fix TCF up and make it into one (bad idea out of this)
we should all try getting what we can to help with this (good idea[?])

Re: Halo Fanon
If we create a site for it.... we first would need popularity to get other people to post their stories.
Our mods could simply delete fanon that is simply redundant.

Re: Halo Fanon
Seems like a good idea, I would help out, but I don't read that many fan fictions, and I don't know much outside of the basic haloverse.

Re: Halo Fanon
The site would just be a collection of FanFictions, FanArt, FanVideos and among other Fan-made media.
I could help run it.
If we get a large user base then I could also run competiotions (art, FF, ect..)

Ahem.
I know people who know people.
Schedule a time for tomorrow, and I'll have my people talk to your people.

If you badly needed stories, I'll post all the ones I've done on there, as well as ask the guys still on the library on HWF to help. (Trust me, only the good and decent writers stayed.)

Re: Halo Fanon
Yes the good writers are their and I'm sure they will write/submit their already completed stories. I will do some if need be.Vigil wrote:Gauz wrote:If we create a site for it.... we first would need popularity to get other people to post their stories.
