Which Holy War was Worse?

I have recently started a debate with some fellow students about if the current day "Jihad" against America is worse than the Crusader's "Jihad" for Jerusalem.

I'm have to say that the Crusaders were much much worse than our current day extremists.

Considering we don't have a number of casualties in the crusades combined... I wouldn't know.

the crusades definitely...


war today is civil compared to the shit back then and the body count today is MUCH lower than any of the single crusades alone.




as for "motives"... both are differences in religious perspective culminating into violence... neither is more "noble" nor is either more correct or justified...

The Crusades by far.

Their was no code of conduct or Geneva coventions of war.

The death toll was massive, combatants and civilans.

well you guys have said that there was no geneva convention back then so what makes the crusades worse for not having the geneva convention i dont see the logic trail in that

im not saying at all the the terrorism is worse than the crusades but neither am i saying the crusades were worse than terrorism but back to my point

so if today there is the geneva convention and the terrorist disobey that then wouldnt that make terrorism worse than crusades in that aspect

but another thing is the goals
the goal of the crusades was to purge the holy land of heathens and to gain holy treasures
the goal of terrorism today is to kill as many people as possible that are believed to be christian
so between fighting for land while killing anyone who was in the way versus killing as many people as possible, I would say killing for the sake of killing is worse

second was the era
in this era there were many wars and many peoples were fighting
in fact the first crusade was focused at Jerusalem an actual city with soldiers defending and the fatimids were already in a war
while today the first big terrorist attack was solely against a civilian building and not against an army or a fort

I dont really feel like typing any more cause i have a 2 page paper due tomorrow i havent started on about macbeth
