tldr: Infraction systems lead the way to shitty dictatorship-esque forums that nobody will enjoy whatsoever, ultimately leading to the death of the community, or departure of the main contributors.

You do realise constant spamming and bitter arguments will have the same effect right? I'm all for strong opinions, so long as it does end up as a mudflinging match. Debate is fine, Bickering isn't.

HWF did become stricter as it declined, but that was because it was drastically needed. The levels of spamming and flamming had just got to insane levels, and there was little choice in the matter. People would probably leave again and the forum would get even quieter, but to be honest I wouldn't be crying if some members left.

I agree, but this is the internet, and most people can't control themsleves and act like 4 year olds on a sugar rush.

I think the infarction system should only be a temporary deterant, only wheeled out when the forum ruckus get's a little out of hand, just to calm people down and maintain order. If it's a constant it would just be a looming noose and people would tread a little too carefully, destorying the point of the freedom this forum has compared to HWF.

Besides, the forum is already a Ditactorship. Pheonix's will shall be done.

Pie, you already get banned frequently. This will be no different, but now we have a system to better keep track of your bannings. If anything, it should be happy because now you (probably) wont get banned as easily as you did in the CB just a bit ago. Instead, you'll just get an infraction and be on your marry way.

At HWF, we didn't spam, fight, or any of that sorts. The HWF, namely Aloysius, restricted the entire forum to posting only about Halo Wars and banned anyone who spoke out against him. THAT is why we left, and such is most defniately not the case here, else you would already be banned.

just to be clear, infractions will only be handed out after you have been told to stop

if you let it keep going out of hand it is your fault... and on the old system would have received a 24 hour ban right then and there... if not a longer ban than that

permabans still won't be handed out unless you are being an absolute douchebag... and bans are still under the discretion of Pheonix

Kind of on topic (you just now brought up permenant bans, sort of) and I noticed that Justin was on the banned list.

Didn't he help you with some modifications to the site or something?

I'm not doing this to be an ass or anything, I honestly want to know what he did. He was a jackass sometimes in the CB.
