I would think that the only thing to make the internet go away would be something even easier to use for communication than the internet... thus making arguing easier

I looked at it more from the angle of even with the internet still going on with all the years gone by after leaving it thinking back on old forum buddies and Steam friends and what not. Remembering old friends that you didn't know but knew so well and couldn't get back in contact with anymore.

No, if someone were to move away they could keep in contact on the internet. If someone left the internet then they are just gone.

The internet has been around for 40 years, and readily available for around 10.

We can't act like this is something unique to our generation. The only thing unique to our generation is how much more rare it is for this to happen.
