All-time favorite movie
In light of my negativity in that Avatar thread, I felt it might be a good idea to express that I do ACTUALLY like some movies.
It's very rare that I consider a movie one of my favorites, or even see a movie that I truly respect. So hard, in fact, that I'm almost uncomfortable mentioning any movie other than my very very absolute favorite movie of all time...
Goodfellas
The charm of this movie is everlasting. I could watch the damn thing over and over again.. every bit of it. The cast could not be better, the film style (and narration) is fantastic, and the story (which is actually based on a real mobster) is perfect in every way.
I've seen this movie so many times, and it never fails to leave me smiling and wishing that I was a mobster.
WAHT IS YOUR FAVORITE MOVIE TCF!?

Haven't seen it.
But I would have to say my favourite movie is...
V for Vendetta, or One of the Star Wars movies from the Original trilogy.

Re: All-time favorite movie
Gran Torino
Talk about the non-Eastwood actors as much as you like, but I think it actually made the movie better.
Clearly he was going for a very realistic feel, and he got it. While many of the asian actors have been criticized for not being good (on the internet), I really think that's what made the movie believable. They were all either first generation immigrants, or second generation who were heavily influenced by the gang-banger life style.

Re: All-time favorite movie
You are really not choosng a favorite if you throw a list at the screen
I'd say my favorite is Saving Private Ryan
followed closely by Aliens, the LOTR trilogy, the ORIGINAL Starwars trilogy, Ghostbusters

I know, but narrowing a single movie at of all the films I've seen would be damn near impossible.
I could thin it a little, but not by much.
Besides big lists are cooler

Re: All-time favorite movie
Oh, boy, I've got a shelf of favorites. I'll list them by what I watch them FOR.
When I want to put human nature in perspective, I usually watch Apocalypse Now! or Flags of our Fathers, with Apocalypse Now! being my favorite.
When I want to see good camerawork (lighting, scenery, et cetera) I usually pop in Pitch Black (I love the story too) and The Final Cut.
The Final Cut is a REALLY good Robin Williams movie... and it's not humor. It's a psychological thriller about an apparent future (You just can't date this movie. It's not possible) where people can have biological recorders implanted, the Zoe Eye Implant, which records all that they see, all that they hear. And when they die, their memories can be cut up and edited into 'Rememories', movies of their lives for the relatives and friends to watch at the funeral.
But that leaves the Cutters... people who put the Rememories together, who see our darkest moments, who absolve us of our sins by pressing the delete button. People who see those sins, and take them to their graves, the outcasts of society.
Several others out there, like A Bridge Too Far, District Nine, Avatar, Insomnia, Red Dawn, the two Terminator movies...
But I'd have to say my favorites are Apocalypse Now!, Forest Gump, and Avatar.
