No from what Legion said, The Heretics had an inbuilt mathematical error which when Sovereign offered them a way to advance themselves quickly they followed.

no, he simply said that geth make their own futures. the heretics looked to the old machines to give them a future.

they then simply did what sovereign and saren needed them to do.
