TNine, if Left for dead 2, has taught us anything, it's that Valve is no longer in the buisness of making stellar games, they are now in the business of making vast quantities of money, so I think you should be more expectant of a TF3 rather then a TF2.1, as was the case with L4D1 (they promised free DLC, map packs new weapons, etc... did not deliver)
Valve fucking gave portal away for free for like 2 weeks.
And they release free updates for TF2 very frequently, they occationally release free weekends for it aswell, and they have halved the previous price for TF2 down to 10 dollars American! I don't know the original price, but the price cut far surpasses what any other company would have done, and only like 2 years after release. That is fucking nice you ingrate! And they're are more generous than ever.
Had TF2 been made by any other game developer it would have been released way earlier, BUT way less well rounded and balanced, would still cost atleast $50 today, and they would release 2 shit DLC including only 3 maps each like 4 months after release, that would both cost $20.

If you want to think of Valve as being greedy, atleast take a second to compare them to other companies like EA and Activision and Microsoft.
And them Delaying Portal 2 just shows how important it is to them to get their products perfect for the consumers. Game developers like IW/Treyarch for example, would have just released it despite it being flawed and unfinished. Valve are no noobs, they know how when games are ready, and if the sense something wrong with one of their games, they dedicate themselves to fixing the problem (You could argue L4D is different, but I have explained it before and can't be bothered going through it again). Also Spending an extended amount of time on a game generally costs more money in the long run, Valve compromise their profit for your and all of the consumers satisfaction.

You should go die in a hole, now.

During the creation of all of the content for L4D, Valve realized something. L4D was a great game, and it was great because it was simple. Three core special infected, three core weapons, a few extra dashes of whatnot here and there. The game was solid. Adding new weapons, new special infected, etc would have screwed things up. I mean, play L4D2 on Versus for a few weeks and then go back and play L4D, and you'll realize that the Spitter, Charger, and Jockey could totally rape in the L4D campaigns because the maps were made without taking into consideration those three special infected. Likewise, L4D2 saw a sizeable makeover of the Source engine to allow for all of the creative changes made. L4D2 was beyond a stellar game, and to say anything contrary to that because Valve made us pay full price (and by full, I mean, half, because Valve doesn't charge $60 for its games like all other companies) for what is pretty much an entirely new game with entirely new mechanics and the same basic concept. The differences between L4D and L4D2 are probably more pronounced than the differences between Halo and Halo 3.

Now look what you've done, Ringleader. I'm agreeing with YouCurse. Your statements were so contrary to rational thought that the laws of physics warped and YouCurse made a post that is intelligent and well thought out! Next thing you know, lax will be in here to discuss the applications of quantum physics in Portal 2!

Gabe Newell came out during the Sony Press Conference to announce Portal 2 on the PS3.

Although, Gabe Newell also detests the PS3 Razz

I was quite surprised when the host of the Sony event was like "We have a surprise for you," and then GLaDOS came over the speakers "Deploying surprise in 3...2...1..."

"Also, the game will be even better," they added, missing an historic opportunity to create the first product delay press release to mention that a product is being delayed to make it worse.

^Best^ quote so far.

They skipped the opportunity because someone already beat them to the punch.

I've only seen the video they played at Sony so far. I'll get to see the game myself tomorrow.
