Blur™

Post by Divine Virus on Fri Mar 12, 2010 6:22 am

This one looks really fun. It reminds everybody of Mario Kart what with all the power-ups.

I'm not sure how many of you even like racing games but well...I do.

There is a Xbox Live Multiplayer Beta that is out but you must sign up at their website and recive a beta key by e-mail.

So enough of my text, here's some gameplay and other videos.

IGN Page

If you go to YouTube and search for Blur multiplayer beta, then you will find a lot of gameplay videos.

I'm easily enticed by graphics, so I must say, the whole neon dealio looks pretty sexy.

It definitely gives it a certain kind of look and style. I like it too.

I would consider it if it weren't for the fact that it's a racing game. Besides, not enough people end up getting these XBL Marketplace games to ever do something really fun.

Racing Games are awesome. Well, some are. As long as they have that arcade style control, which this one does.

And this is not a XBLA game. It's a retail game that will be on store shelves. If that's what you meant by, "XBL marketplace games".

Oh? It doesn't look like the kind of quality you'd see in a retail game...

Is it full-priced?

Yes, of course it's full price. It is a retail game afterall.

Does it really look that low of quality to you? If so, I don't see it. What I do see however is a fun and pretty looking game.

Idk... it looks like some awfully simple models for the games of today... and it's not an incredibly complicated or even original concept...

Frankly, from what I've seen, the only reason I'd buy it is if a bunch of other people I play wit buy it and it was $15 or less.

Racing games tend to be so unoriginal, though... idk... I doubt it's something I'd get interested in. I've barely been able to get into even Mario Kart. I mean, to me, racing games are just to simple... no variety... just one tactic; one way to win.... and it apply to almost all racing games. Maybe some people find enjoyment in racing games, but I don't.

Well if you don't like racing games Civ then that's fine. I don't really like RPG's. Games don't have to be complicated or be so original to be a good one. Surely you know this.

But one thing I will say is that it sounds like your argument can be applied to almost any game genre. FPS = shoot them to win. RPG = level up to win. Music/Rythem = Play the beat or notes correctly when told to to win. Platformer = get to the end of the stage to win. Yes many game do get to the end/win differently but it reality it's the same goal but yes I agree, not the same game. Which is what makes game these days stand out.

So to me, that's not a very good reason to dislike racing games. But Like I said, if you don't like'em then you just don't like'em. I probably could'nt tell you why I don't really like RPG's, I just don't.

...wait what where we talking about? Razz

Uhhh

Even if there is one main goal, they have different ways to acomplish them. Racing games usually don't, mario kart does, but even still who really plays the other game modes?

I think lack of replaybility is a fine reason to not like a game.

Yes and I already said that in my post. But with racing games what more can you do? If you change it up to much then it's not a racing game then is it?

Racing can be just considered a basic mode in a racing game. Just look at Burnout for example. Racing is like the most basic mode they have. There's many more modes that they have to play in there. Does this game have that? I'm not sure yet but I know it does have more then one mode then just simple racing. And hopefully, the power-ups can even change up those modes a little.

And yes I agree lack of replayability is a great reason to not like a game. I sometimes base a purchase of a game on that too.
