Of course, Frankie has been known to lie, but we are expected to be merciful to those that lie to us...
Besides which, I'm actually excited for the Forerunner trilogy.

I never really cared about Forerunners as a race/characters; I just thought their stuff was a cool setting

Alright (for the Nylund and the Onyx sequel)!
I'd really like to see another Nylund story.
The books he didn't write for Halo generally suck (except Protocol).

You're kidding, right? That book was worse than Contact Harvest! CH was at least bearable on the second readthrough, when you learned to skip Johnson's parts...
Oh, wait, you said 'Generally suck'. So, you mean the Cole Protocol sucked specifically?
Anyhow, since Nylund's short story was the best of Halo: Evolutions, I definitely hope he writes the sequel.

Re: Some shall be glad to hear this...
The forerunner trilogy doesn't much excite me as it bears little relation to the current Halo story.
Right now, the forerunners are a mysterious, archaic, ingenious super-species that perished long ago in a tragic war, but who's story continues to be unfolded piece by piece when clues from the current time frame are linked together. That's what make the forerunners so cool! With their own series... it may as well be a whole new story.
It'll have the name Halo, but will ultimately have as much to do with the UNSC/Insurrection/Covenant/Flood/Sparky struggle as Portal has to do with Half Life.
The idea of a sequel to Ghosts of Onyx, though.... now that is exciting news! I always thought it would be explained in a game -perhaps Reach? I guess not, though. If it's half as good as the first Onyx, I'll croak half-way through the book out of pure joy.

Exactly, and a story about them isn't going to maintain this facade of mystery and fascination.

I liked CH. Johnson's parts weren't all that horribe, but I'll agree with the Cole Protocol. That was bad.
I thought Nylund's was the second best. I personally like The Mona Lisa, then Nylund's, and then Dirt.

Why does everyone hate the Cole Protocol so much?
(No spoilers, I just found it again, and I'm still reading it)

Re: Some shall be glad to hear this...
part of what makes halo cool IMO is not knowing the backstory to the forerunners.... taking away that mystery takes away the entire feeling of the setting that works so well in the games
