Damn, what the fuck do I do now?

im looking at three basic routes with college, and have until early april to choose one.

My situation:
I have three options to choose from, each very different from the others. Im majoring in Mechanical Engineering and Minoring in Electrical Engineering, or Robotics if that isn't available(if thats not, something like material science is of interest)

Options
#1, Cheap and basic
The cheapest option, at virtually no cost to me, leads me through a Community College and Saginaw Valley State University. I need to raise about $1000 a year to pay the rest of the costs off. (I already have enough for all 4-5 years)

#2, Costlier and Experience based
Kettering University is ranked second in the nation for my major and has one of the best co-op programs available. You work half of the time and go to school half of the time. Of particular interest here are military contractors, TARDEC and General Dynamics Land Systems are both based in Warren, MI. Combine that with some family contacts and it looks like I have a decent shot at them. Regardless, the experience would be beneficial. Looking at about $10,000 a year to pay off(factor in the co-op and that will drop drastically, and possible even be a negative number)

#3, Costlier and Research based
I got accepted into the Honors College at Michigan Technological University. This basically means that I can choose to join a research effort or create a new one right off the bat and be guaranteed a spot, not to mention other perks. If I say yes, I will be entered into some more competetive scholarships as well, although there is no guarantee of winning. Overall, If I wanted to shoot for something bigger than a B.S. or try for research based careers, this is the way to go. Looking at about $10,000 a year to pay off(possible could drop like the kettering one, if I didn't win any more scholarships there are always summer co-op's through them)

Im also applying for other programs, like the SMART program run by the DoD.

With any luck, I might end up in a good spot in graduate school working in labs with gov funding, just like my sis(except she's a genetics type of person)

I myself took the cheap route through the local community college, but with the options available to you, I say "Go for Experience, Fellow Engineer!"

Personally, I wouldn't go with the Community College.

Not sure what you want to do, but this is part of the reason I'm joining the military.

I'm not sure how much of it they'll cover, but I know that Devry (where I'm planning to go) has a long history of working with the "GI Bill", and that I could also take my basic classes at Annapolis.

Well, obviously you are just looking for our opinions, it is not like you are going to follow my word, considering you haven't even meet me, and I haven't met you.

I would have to say, I have no idea what you should do.
I, personally, would do what ever my parents would say is the best. because I'm pretty sure both of mine went to university (Or even possibly, in your case, your sister). So they would know things like, how university works and paying off student loans. But most of all, they would know you, and what best suits you. How well you can work, your academic standard, your commitment/dedication.

I would say costlier and research based. Cheap and basic is not very good long term.

Honestly, If I plan on going to grad school I will likely end up going to MTU.

Right now, my plan is to go to kettering for undergrad, and if I want to continue and go into research THEN go into grad school at michigan tech. I will already have some real experience.

Hopefully I would also have a summer employer that I could work for then.

I would pick the most expensive option. Even though it cost more now, you'll make it back in no time. Good luck with whatever you pick man.
