Splinter Cell Conviction

Post by KristallNacht on Sat Apr 17, 2010 9:47 pm

its pretty epic. the cover system is perfect and the actiony stealth combat is well calibrated.

it has a long single player campaign, a co op campaign, and plenty of multiplayer modes (only 2 people though).

check it out, there should be a demo on xbl

I have it. Beat the main campaign, have 2/3 of the achievements, all the PEC challenges are done. Fucking awesome game. Mark-and-execute is one of the most rewarding and cinematic systems in any game I've ever played. The interrogations are not what they could've been though :/. They're basically interactive cutscenes. They're a nice touch but they're repetitive.

And the single player campaign is only 5-6 hours on the longest difficulty lol. But it has a lot of replayabililty, and the story is put together very nicely. The co-op if fun, but I only have an idiot to play with so I'm waiting for someone intelligent (Ruski) to play it with.

Deniable Ops is one of my favorite extra modes in any game ever (next to Nazi Zombies). The stealth action fits right into the terrorist hunting that Ubisoft is known for in Rainbow Six Vegas. The hunter and infiltration modes (the ones that are like terrorist hunt from RSV) are really fun, and better than terrorist hunt. I haven't got around to Last Stand or Face Off for there is a terribly hard achievement that I'm trying to unlock in hunter. This is a must buy.

Since I'm a splinter cell fanboy, I'm not gonna buy this game because they removed most of the stealth in the sp (first half of it is supposed to be good, and last half is supposed to suck, from what I've heard)

Um they didn't remove most of the stealth. It's fast stealth now, not slow stealth where you watch guard patterns for 10 minutes then work through them.

I never did that in the earlier ones except on really hard difficulties...

Not really a splinter cell fan, but a big stealth type game fan. However, I'll probably pass this up.

the only part i haven't liked so far was the Iraq flashback. the game mechanics don't really work when you remove all of them

I saw some playing that and it really seemed to break the game mechanics and flow of the game.

It also reminded me heavily of MGS4.

except if mgs4 was absolute crap.

sure the iraq part was cool in that it told a good backstory, but they could have made it not suck.
like maybe put in a different combat system entirely, not the same one without all the stuff that made it work.

Yeah the Iraq mission sucked horribly. It also took me the entire mission to realize that I was playing as Victor instead of Sam Razz. Probably because I accidentally skipped the opening cutscene of the mission Razz.

Sounds good. I'm very on the fence about this - I'd have probably bought it if I didn't regret my last two buys (Metro 2033 and ME2). That and my Xbox is a wee bit RRoD'd.

first off, why would you skip cutscenes in a game you've never player?

and i watched the cutscene and still didn't know it was victor
