The Last Airbender

Post by TNine on Sat Jul 10, 2010 12:12 am

Did anybody else see this? A fucking horrible movie, a disgrace to the awesomeness of the show. Bad acting, bad writing, bad filming, bad CGI, bad storytelling, and a crappy conversion from 2D to 3D that actively made the movie worse.

Probably Shyamalan's last movie, it was so bad. It's funniest moments were the ones that were supposed to be dramatic.

the filming and CGI were fine...

THe cast was bad. They acted fine (even for how bad of choices they were). But srsly guise...

They attempted to fit a ENTIRE SEASON worth of the show into 90 minutes. It's a little hard to do that Razz If you've never watched the show, I can see how you'd like it. I wouldn't say it's "fucking horrible"

THe CGI was horrendous, considering they didn't have the intelligence to MATCH THE MOVEMENT OF THE ELEMENTS TO THE MOVEMENT OF THE BODY! Also the Earth-bending was very meh, same with the fire. The water bending looked cool, though.

Can't really blame the kids. Considering Shyamalan made Dev Patel, who played the main character in Slumdog Millionare, look bad i doubt it was their fault. Not to mention, it is hard to do well with lines like that.

They filmed sections of the movie with the Kyoshi Warriors, then had them cut...why? The film should have been at least 2 hours, if not more (it was 103 minutes, BTW). But that wasn't my main problem, it just was...shitty.

Originally, it was about 2 hours and I think 45 mins long, but M. Night or Paramount or whoever cut it down to less than half that because it was easier to do more test audiences or some stupid shit like that.

Still, they turned what was a tolerable movie, into a shitfest.

Don't worry, they're 9000% right this time.
If you saw the show, DEFINITELY don't go see this movie!

my only issue with it was the dialogue not being matured with the look and feel.

the CGI was awesome. the 'non matching' movements would be because each elemental bending technique is a different real world martial art.

The filming was only bad at the one point where it was showing angs face up close like nonstop.

the actig was good with just bad dialogue, and the cast fit the characters pretty well.

The cast is just plain terrible.

They might as well got Vin Diesel or Jason Statham to act as Aang,

The show's dialogue wasn't that bad, you have to consider it needs to be simple enough for kids to follow. It was sure as hell better than the movie.

*facepencil* It was also based of martial arts in the show, each martial art was specifically chosen for each element.

Haha, i remember that. I nearly screamed "ZOOM OUT!" the fourth of fifth time it went back into super-zoom mode.

Acting could have been better (especially with Sokka), but i do agree that a lot of the problems were probably with the writing.

the diologue in the show is okay to be cartoonish, since the show is highly comical. the movie was meant as a more matured story, but someone forgot to mature the dialogue. dialogue that fits in cartoons doesn't work in movies all the time.

But even the dialogue in the show was better than the shit in the movie.

Also, who the fuck looked at the show and thought that the movie should be 100% serious, 100% of the time? In the show, Aang's first fucking words were "Will you go penguin sledding with me?!"

AND WHY THE FUCK IS UNCLE IROH NOT FAT!?!?!?!?!?
