Sorry for the necro, but just back from seeing it

Very cleverly written and some very unique visuals and ideas.

I really liked it.

I saw it. Didn't exactly get to see the visuals and stuff full force because I watched a bootleg (I'm poor) but it was still amazing. Way better than The Dark Knight.

It deserves it. Inception is going to be one of those films that people talk about for years.

Memento deserves to be higher IMO, and yes, The Green Mile should be higher. That movie was amazing, and it's the only movie to date to ever make me cry.

Went to see the movie tonight.
It's amazing and I agree completely with it being number 3 on that list.

Really, REALLY good movie, but,

*spoiler*

For someone as creative and imaginative as that guy, you'd think the first thing he would to would be to drug his wife, enter her dream, and stop the top from spinning. I'm guessing the reason they didn't have people walking around in thier shared dream was because they completely trusted/loved each other, (no subconscious barriers?) meaning he could sneak in no problem and either incept a new idea that overruled the previous one, or maybe he could just stop the spinning himself. To be completely safe inside her dream, preventing her subconscious from fighting back, he could have staged their suicide (sleeping pill in kool aid), and then enter the dreamscape with her, so the last thing she remembers is what she wanted them to do so she wouldn't fight back. Since she wouldn't really know how the first level started, he could then stage their suicide again, and then incept the new idea if need be.

Spoiler:
The only reason he succeeded in the inception was because they were in limbo and he found her secret vault, and as we saw, suicide sent them back to the real world. What other idea could he have possibly have incepted, besides the world not being real? I can't personally think of one that wouldn't have still lead to her eventual suicide in the real world.

Spoiler:
Maybe, they did share the dream, so he still had access to that house and the safe from what we saw in the movie. Whatever state they were in the first time around, where they spent 50 years together, I'm sure they would have been able to replicate the conditions, and since she would think that the dream was real, and since she wouldn't remember how the dream started, I don't think she would've been wary of any attempt at changing her perception through inception, nor would she remember what had happened prior to being put under. As for the memory, I don't really know what would ground her back to reality, I'm sure they could Hollywood up something, like a picture of her kids, but I think stopping the top from spinning would have done the trick. Also, when extraction takes place, does that mean the guest dreamer loses that memory? If so, he could try removing the top, and see if she swings back to reality in time. I know if she was my wife, I would try everything.

Inception implants a seed of an idea, but, when people make their own thought from nothingness, they can be proven wrong later, like if I were a kid, and I theorized the earth as a flat plane because I didn't know any better, and I perceived the ground as a flat surface, I don't think that means I'll go crazy and commit suicide upon learning it's not. The seed can't grow when nothing you experience or learn supports it, and upon learning you were part of a shared dream, brought on by a device that can be used again for proof, I think accepting reality with no incident would be a more realistic alternative to jumping off a ledge to your death.
