the native creatures are non aggressive... this thing is 15 feet tall and charging at Spartans through gunfire....

it is also in the same body proportions as the Drinol...

also... I guess there goes the notion that the Covenant were Humanities first contact with Alien life Razz

I thought they met alien life before, just the Covenant were extremely hostile.

nope... the covenant was supposed to be humanities first contact with alien life

While I find that unrealistic as the humans have spread to over 500 planets, they wouldn't have found any trace of alien life, I can't be sure as I haven't read CH so I don't know the full story.

*cough*Mechwarrior*cough*

But I don't actually think it would be that unrealistic, I mean, come on... THE GALAXY IS OVER 9000 TRILLION STARS AND COUNTING! (jk)

Contact Harvest also says that humanity has only colonized a few worlds.

I think I worded it wrong, as I meant it was more than likely that they would find alien life on some of the 500+ planets.

FoR says that the covenant are Humanities first contact with any alien life

500 is an over exaggeration of the span of humanity... they only have a very small part of the galaxy explored, let alone colonized... and animal life takes a long while to develop... as I understand half the worlds that the UNCS lives on had to be terraformed in one way or another to allow humans to live there

really... the chances of them finding life on 1 of 500 planets is like a 1 in a million chance... and thats looking on the optimistic side of things

Some planets, like Onyx and Sigma Octanus IV, already had life. But they didn't encounter any INTELLIGENT life until the Covenant.

This.

Anyhow, Humanity had 800 colonies, counting outposts and research stations. Actual places where people were hunkered down long-term, trying to start a civilization, that number probably drops to 500.

Unless they terraformed every planet they've colonized, there would have to be life in order to make the planet hospitable for human habitation. Alien life could be a bacteria, not just giant claw beasts.

I meant animal life

obviously there was plant life on several planets

large animal life on planets not in connection to the Ark don't make sense... all animal life with enough biomass to sustain to the flood was supposedly wiped out 100,000 years previously... unless these "giant claw beasts" and Moa were preserved like animals on earth on the arc... then they shouldn't have had time to evolve.
