it would have worked well as an alternate end scene to Empire

although i still would have preferred the current end scene

And I think that scene would have alluded too much to what happened later.

It made the whole sequence where R2 shot his new lightsaber to him and we saw him using it for the first time made it special, as we weren't expecting it.
