Stuck on the level Cortana on Legendary

I am in need of some halpz here. I've been trying to beat Halo 3 on Legendary, but Cortana is giving me a run for my money. I'm stuck at the part when Cortana says "Don't look at me... don't listen!" right after the room with the Cortana terminal. I have two energy swords, 3 Plasma Rifles, and a Carbine lying around. The ranged forms aren't really that hard to defeat: Just a few bursts with the plasma rifles. But after I kill most of them, a big squad of combat forms run in and start killing me. What do I do?

Play dead.

It works better than you think. Combat forms ignore you for the most part, but you have to deal with those pesky infection forms.

I just drew each combat form and killed them one by one until it was clear enough to move.

grab a sword, hammer, or shotgun and do not stop between objectives

That's what I've been trying to do. In this area, though, the Ranged forms are already there and the Elite Combat forms take 3-4 sword hits to kill.

I've never left an enemy behind in a game that was not on rails in my entire career of gaming.

Seriously the only thing moving by the time you are done should be the enemy's dismembered limbs. Anything more and you have failed.
