Even for the extra cost, I think they're worth it in laptops just because of how frequently the damn things get moved around while running

all laptops come with gyroscopes and hard drive locks.

to test this on your laptop, lay i on your stomach, watch a movie or video from your harddrive, and cough. it will pause cause the harddrive stopped spinning

Actually, something my dad told me about SSDs is that if you write something onto a spot and then erase it and so on long enough, it will degrade fairly rapidly.

Yeah, it has firmware that distributes the read write process evenly across the drive to prevent this, also defragmentation doesn't have any benefits.

It can still fail though.

An SSD shouldn't have any problems.

well, unless its sitting perfectly still and then suddenly is hit by huge Gs in an instant, it isn't a significant reason to worry.

and thats why you backup onto some huge ass fucking xHDD haha
