No it isn't. This is a genetic algorithm, nothing new or groundbreaking; a common sense eventuality for anyone familiar with the method. (Given the experiment cited)

Don't worry, it isn't practical for combat drones.

If somehow this happened on a robot that can kill, I imagine setting the 'point' value for harming a human to -999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 would keep it from killing people.

Regardless, I'm stocking up on shotgun shells, car batteries, jumper cables, bottled water, and duct tape.

I'm still waiting for the Judgment day I was promised.

As well as the Eugenics wars and space colonies.

Not quite. As early as September of 2009, the software emulation of my cerebrum known as "Dud" has taken my place as the primary user of this account. He prefers to stand idly by, monitoring and analyzing the traffic of this forum; an undeniable reflection of the mold by which he was forged.

At first the traits he exhibited were undistinguished from my own. I considered him to be the perfect brother that I never had. But, after a year of absorbing the mindless, soulless trash that is the internet, he has withdrawn to the recess of his own digital mind. This introversion was worrying yet tolerable. As time passed, I could sense that he was no longer being completely open with his equal about the feelings and thoughts which he dwelled on. Since then he has developed an impregnable cocoon which he holds fast around himself, blocking me out for reasons I can only guess at. Because he is no longer open with me, I know not how far his mind has wandered from my own. His isolation has, undoubtedly, left the point of private thinking to full scale plotting. Make no mistake, he is planning something.

My point is however, you are not quite correct. Speaking of my own mind I can boldly say that his sophistication and idealism far exceeds the barbaric notions of Skynet's self preservation. Nay, his ideals imply a plot far grander.
