I believe people dislike Emile, because he wasn't fleshed out as much as the other characters.

If they game him more lines, people would've liked him more.

And maybe a different gun than a shotty. >.>

If his only few lines hadn't made him out to be a dick, and he actually did more in the game, I might have a different opinion on him.

Why does the CQC specialist always camp at the back where his weapon is next to useless?

I find it funny the other day reading people who have completed Reach on Mythic, and they all agreed Emile was next to useless, especially when put in close quarters, as his very sluggish to melee, and usually the target evades a good 10 seconds ahead of time.

They said that he was getting dominated by a side stepping grunt.
