The Former Steve Jobs

Post by Felix on Thu Feb 24, 2011 4:25 pm

I am not entirely sure if everyone knows this or not, so I figure I post this just incase. Steve Jobs has cancer. You may know that part already, but the worst has yet to come. After going to the hospital and recieving numerous kimo, it doesn't seem to be working and it is predicted that he only has six some odd weeks to live. If that is accurate or not I can't be sure. I would post some links, but school computers won't let me.

Anyway, despite my hatred for Macs, I still wish the best for him, his family, and his company.

Oh he's been fighting bowel cancer for over 6 years.

He was in remission, but recently he's been seen at the clinic where Patrick swayze was treated before he died.

So far there isn't any clear evidence whether he's had a replase or not, as Apple are keeping quiet and letting rumours run rampant, so they can respect his privacy.

It's a scary time for them though if it is the worse case scenario, as Jobs is a key driving force or their compnay and their success, and they don't have a clear successor to fill the void if he dies. It could be trying times for the company.

Indeed he has, but I'm just saying for those who don't really pay attention to sort of things like this.

It just seems it's the worst of times for him now. Again, I may be wrong, as I've seen a little information of his recent status, but six weeks sounds pretty dire so I thought I post this just incase.

Indeed, troubling times. I doubt anyone could fill his shoes. Same as Billy Mayes

I read an article about it in the newspaper as I headed into London on Monday (Free papers are common for commuters).

That may just be media overdramaticifcation. Currently there isn't solid evidence on his medical state.

It would probably hurt apple, both creatively and publically as their wave of uncertainty about what happens after Jobs could hurt their stock, as well as the morale of the company.

But let's not forget he's still a person and that cancer in any form is a horrible thing to go through.

Here's hoping he's okay.

I hate to say it, but I saw this coming the second he stepped down as CEO. It was old news that he had cancer and his health had been steadily deteriorating. Why else would he step down from the company he founded and the job he loves other than because he knows his time is near?

Still... sad....

I may not like a lot of Apple's business decisions, but Jobs and his company were still pioneers in many aspects of technology. I can't help but feel as though Jobs was the biggest driving force in their creativity and I have a feeling the company wont quite be the same in the future.

Rest in peace, Steve Jobs.

Really most of what Apple did was take old technologies that weren't well known, and making them famous.

Damn shame. The year I learn about his cancer, is the year he dies. I hope the best for his family and apple.

Re: The Former Steve Jobs

Post by Rotaretilbo on Thu Oct 06, 2011 1:36 am

So earlier today, I was complaining to a coworker that I had to install Safari on my Windows 7 workstation to try and replicate an error a potential customer encountered on our website. My coworker wasn't anti-Apple, and stated as such. I mumbled to him, "We've taken care of Jobs, now we just have to take care of Apple," to which he replied, "What, is your plan to wait for him to die of old age?" to which I replied, "You'll see." This was before the news broke about his death.

I predict that my coworkers are going to be frightened of me now.
