I thought that with most fuel (ie wood), it went yellow-red-blue-white in terms of color. Certain fuels burn different colors (green fire), but i'm pretty sure blue is hotter in most fires.

well, in general, blue fire is made through different fuel...

i was thinking "pretty sure blue fire is hotter" so i went to google, and i couldn't find anything concerning color-temperature.

the hottest part of a flame is usually blue, white, or clear... that area is at a higher energy state than the other part of the flame where the atoms energy state is only slightly excited

but the flame itself will be red or orange

different materials will burn different colors though

methane burns green I think... im not sure what burns blue... but the hot part of the flame for both of these is still a blue/white

BTW: I used to think that two of my friends in chem lab were out to kill me. Now I know the whole LAB is out to kill me.
Whether it's squirting boiling water at me from a syringe, detonating test tubes around me, or bumping into me when I have a beaker full of HCl.
They don't know HOW to go about it, so it's trial and error so far.

I used to think the same thing. Every day I went to Chem Lab I risked my life by putting it into the hands of those idiots playing with acids, toxic, and somewhat explosive compounds. Im glad im out of it now. Someone actually did end up pouring a beaker of some nasty acid all over themselves, didn't end well for him...
