That term has been in use at least since Halo: Reach. I think it's the Army designation.
Also, keep in mind that they had certain limitations when doing this in the Forza engine, so the suspension had to be changed.
thats counter intuitive. Forza more likely required them to actually make the suspension realistic. It looks like its very similiar to the HMMWV which goes against cortana's story, since the HMMWV is shit.

The Forza engine isn't programmed to build vehicles from 500 years in the future.

Re: Halo 4
the fundamentals of how a vehicle work aren't going to change in 500 years.

Re: Halo 4
Going from wheels to hovering is pretty fundamental (even if we don't have it in this series)

I think the bigger question if how the Master Chief has access to a UNSC Warthog when he's stranded in deep space, especially given most of the hangar of the Forward unto Dawn was practically all sucked into space.
Funny thing about that:
1: We don't know that the FoD's entire complement was sucked out into space. We only saw what was in the hangar. And honestly, if that was all the FoD had, she had a pretty crappy complement.
2: See evidence below.

See those fishy things? Those ain't fish. They're Pelicans.
The UNSC is going to be paying us a little visit.

1.Well my thoughts on it were due to the FoD being the only UNSC ship that saw action on the Ark, and given the importance of that battle, I'd assume Miranda had used virtually everything in her arsenal, and given that the hangar was left open during the escape anything left would have been sucked out unless it was in deep storage.
2.Can't really see them all that well, but I'll take your word for the hypothetical argument that the UNSC discover the Chief in deep space. Will I do agree it's possible that he could of been transported anywhere in the galaxy or beyond, given the Ark was beyond the outer rim of our galaxy, and we all know UNSC space travel isn't the most precise or quick to traverse massive areas of space, I would have to mean a significant period has elapsed since Halo 3, be it via time travel due to the portal or extended cryo-sleep, given the sorry state the UNSC was in.
We do know they expanded and returned to their former worlds, the ending of Reach is evident that they went back there at some point, around 2570's give or take, but realistically it must of taken several hundred years to fully restore the UNSC to where it was at the start of the war.

Yep, that's probably going to be how he looks in it.

Yeah, you guys should have seen the crap-hurricane those pictures unleashed over at HBO.
Putting aside the fact that this is supposed to be new armor, that there's supposed to be a canonical reason for its existence...
It looks like utter crap.

Actually, if you cover up the things on his shoulders, it looks better. Not perfect, but a definite improvement.
