EA vs Activision

Who sucks more? You decide!

We all hate them. They take great games and ruin them in the name of profits... and half the time, they don't even make money off of it. If they'd stop screwing with stuff, the world would be a much better place for gamers.

Activision supports putting out a new game every year from every studio regardless of quality.

EA at least starts with great games, and then knocks them down to simply good games.

But in all honesty i don't hate any either company, cause i don't really find it worth it to hate a game publisher.

Also EA and Activision arent evil, they businesses, so unless we are going with the assumtion that companies are people, no they arent evil, they are just incredibly greedy which businesses should be, becuase thier sole purpose is making money after all.

Which is all well and good, except that you can make money without resorting to cheap tactics that ruin games. For example, Duke Nukem Forever is the most garbage garbage in the history of garbage. I would equate it to that horrid E.T. game they made some decades ago. Rather than fixing the product, the publisher, 2K, just hyped the game up. Their tactic was to hope enough people would buy it initially before word of mouth about how much garbage the game is spread.

Capitalism rides on the concept that greed will force companies to make better products to outdo their competitors. But that is not the case in our current system. So many people are pants on head retarded that you just have to market a game a lot, not even particularly well, but a lot, and it will sell like wildfire, despite being garbage. This is a tactic that both EA and Activision employ regularly (see Spore, every Call of Duty game after 4, every C&C game after Yuri's Revenge, etc).

As for the poll, I voted EA. While Activision has emerged as a great evil of late, and while EA is on the decline and beginning to recognize that if it doesn't fuck with shit, that shit will sell better (see Dragon Age 2), I simply cannot forgive EA for ruining so many classics. In most cases, Activision takes shit and makes it shittier, but EA has destroyed really good games in its crusade for mediocrity that sells. Can we ever really forgive EA for what it did to Origin, Westwood, Maxis, Pandemic, and countless other studios? EA rivals SOE in its evil. Where SOE ruins games, EA ruins entire franchises. And while they have learned to leave Bioware and DICE alone, it was only after ruining a couple games first.

Don't get me wrong, I hate Activision, but they're games have almost always been pretty shitty. Infinity Ward is probably the closest they've come to ruining a franchise, and don't get me wrong, but I've had the opportunity to talk to a handful of Treyarch and Infinity Ward employees, and Jason and Vince were both complete dicks. Activision fucked up too, but Jason and Vince frankly deserved to be fired.

Exactly. Capitalism is supposed to make companies compete to please the market... but instead, they're making it more difficult for gamers to play good games by adding in a ton of extra price tags and cutting corners that shouldn't be cut.

They are EXTREMELY narrow-minded and short-sighted.

EA made Westwood go away.

That's really the only thing anyone needs to know.
