Gaming Headset Recommendations

Post by Ringleader on Sun Jul 31, 2011 6:02 am

Alright guys, looking to get a good wireless gaming headset for use on PC and 360 that's anywhere from 100 to 140$. I'm thinking the Turtle Beach X41, because it's wireless and it has bass boost, which is good.

Since it seems everyone who's familiar with gaming headsets in general are strongly opinionated on which one is best, does anyone have any person experience with them? Again, not willing to spend over 140$.

I'm not really looking to use them for MLG or anything super competitive, like the most would be BF3 and BTB on Reach, and of course casual singleplayer games like Skyrim and ME3.

With shitty quality.

TB are probably the best cheap ones, but with wireless one they will eat through batteries so be prepared to spend a lot on batteries.

depends on what you define as shit.

is FLAC lossless compression the only digital audio file that isn't shit? If not, than the built in speakers are far better than you need. Unless you're specifically looking for the 3d audio aspect of it.

It's also possible that he wants to play video games without forcing everyone in the house to hear them too... On topic though, a couple of the Let's Players I watch on Youtube use Turtlebeaches. They seem pretty good.

Is low-end more appropriate?

Yeah you should definitely not get the x41s. Mine broke after 8 months of use. Personally, you should get the x11s. They're wired so you don't have to spend a whole crapload of money on batteries, and they're pretty durable.

I use rechargeables, I heard they run through triple A batteries like crap through a goose.

I definitely want a wireless headset though, even though having the ability to plug them into the receiver and have no static/battery loss would be pretty sweet.

Also one with Dolby surround sound, I mean, how does the X11 stack up against the X41 when it comes to sound quality?

So I ask for recommendations on buying a gaming headset for use on PC and 360, and you suggest that I, get a laptop, with a built in microphone and laptop speakers?

Wat?

*edit* Am I supposed to wear the laptop on my head like a book hat?
