Terraria

Post by Rotaretilbo on Wed Aug 10, 2011 11:17 am

From what I understand, it's like 2D Minecraft. It's on sale on Steam right now, and it's actually quite a bit of fun. Does anyone else have/play it?

I've heard it's really fun at first, but doesn't have the same replayabilty as minecraft does.

I've only played Minecraft, but one of my friends who has played both said the same thing. It also probably depends on what you plan on doing... a lot of people spend more time in minecraft building things than cave/nether diving.

Minecraft's replayability probably comes entirely from building random shit.

My three roommates, two of our friends, and I have been playing Terraria on a dedicated server we set up for like a week now basically nonstop, and it's still fun. And most of us are still relatively poorly geared. I expect at least a week or so before we're even max geared.

I love exploring caves.

I was in a HUGE cave I found that went off into four different directions and after I explored it I heard water.

I just stopped and said "UNDERGROUND SWIMMING POOL" and dove down

Found a huuuuuge underground stream with a bunch of lava streams too.

Tried to make a Skeleton Face the poured lava from its mouth but when building I remembered how much I suck at building shit and so I continued delving into caves.......

If you do play Terraria, the biggest mistake you can make, in my opinion, is look anything up. Half of the fun comes from discovering all of the random shit in the game. It's still fun, but the game seemed even more fun when we had no idea the small area we thought composed the entire map was so tiny. Razz

I got it when it was on sale for $2.50. It's actually really fun. If anyone ever wants to play, lemme know and I'll send you details for my hamachi server.

It's not so much 2D minecraft as it is... a huge Castlevania with mining and crafting

Started playing Friday Night and haven't played since Sunday night... and I managed to log over 38 hours already. This game is VERY addictive.

I have been playing on a server with some other people here. And BBJynne. He was on it for a bit as well.
