SI vs. US/Imperial
Do you think that the US should adopt the SI units of measurement as the official ones within the nation? If not, should Science, Technology, and Industry use SI unanimously as opposed to operating with both US and SI?
Personally, I would like to see the SI system adopted in favor of the US/Imperial one outside of everyday life. It is much easier to use and the units make a whole hell of a lot more sense when trying to solve any sort of problem.

I'm in favour of this. Makes stuff easier when having to deal with Americans.

Re: SI vs. US/Imperial
I much prefer the metric system, especially when it comes to figuring out how many ounces to a cup, cups to a pint, pints to a quart, quarts to a gallon...

Re: SI vs. US/Imperial
I wish I had grown up with the metric system. It would just cost too much for the US to make a sudden switch, though. If we were going to change, it would take nearly a century to make the full transition. After all, the measurement system goes far deeper than centimeters and inches.

Re: SI vs. US/Imperial
Britain doesn't use metrics either in many areas. The Imperial System we use is a minor deviation of the British system.

Re: SI vs. US/Imperial
We use metric in New Zealand, they don't even teach us imperial.
Very easy, it follows rules that are used for all of it's types of measurement, 1000 millimeters is 1 meter and 1000 meters is 1 kilometer, 1000 milliliters is 1 liter. Also cubic meters easily converts to liters. Metric is very easy for any kind of conversions.
Like I could understand the imperial system if it were correct, like if 1 foot was the length of an average foot. In that case, the imperial system would be good for everyday activities if you don't have like a ruler with you or something. But it isn't even correct, an average foot is 9.5 inches, not 12, even you are wearing shoes it wouldn't add 2.5 inches if you were wearing the right size.
