The thing that they don't point out is that GameStop loses so much money in sales to Steam and other digital purchases that they have to push all that shit just to get by. Razz

Well we're not "just getting by" but yes, we do have some competition as do other retailers.

As with the product pushing, really it depends on who's behind the counter. One guy might do all this but me, I can easily size up a customer and know when to push and not push certain stuff. I've gotten many good reviews from customers because they ended up really liking GI (magazine) or really liked a game I suggested for them. Because I knew when to push it. Smile

GI = Win
Membership Programs Usually= Fail
Game Trade-In = Meh

Still, a minute of saying 'No' is worth it. GameStop is still the best bricks-and-mortar game store.

The British equivalent GAME is pretty similar.

It's become quite a turn off, especially as they won't sell games to me sometimes because I don't carry around proof of age all the time. (And to remedy this they wanted to sell me some card so they can spam me with more crap).

I find myself buying games in more general stores where this shit doesn't happen.

I'd say GS pro card is way worth it escpeially if you buy games often. That being said, of course it works best with certain customers but hell, it even works for the family that buys they're kids games say, twice a year for B-days and X-mas.

How do I know? Because I've watched it happen before my eyes at the store. Razz
