That's discretionary spending though. People who want to say the military is way too large always use discretionary, because most of that is military. In total spending, military is closer to 20-40% (which is still very high, but that's part of the price of having an advanced and powerful military)

I'm sure that number has dropped significantly in recent years. Our military would have to be expanding rapidly to keep up with our increase in spending.
