I'm a bit confused how you went from piracy to religion so fast. I guess LP works in mysterious ways...

Alightly off topic but, apparently Piracy (Copyism) has become a legit religion in Sweden with about 3.000 members world wide.

From DN (a swedish newspaper) google translated. The entire article can be found here: ww w .dn.se/livsstil/att-kopiera-digitalt-nu-erkand-religion
Just remove the spaces. FYI it is all in Swedish.
The Netpirates own religion, kopimismen, has been officially recognized as a religion in Sweden. "Copying and dissemination is one of our core beliefs," said kopimismens priest Isaac Gerson.

Jamie, if you're going to necro old threads, at least try to make a post that doesn't make everyone else facepalm.

The cohesive elements attributed to organized religion can be found elsewhere, in other ideologies and philosophies, good or bad. It's done more to erect barriers than tear them down, that's for sure. Knowing people, we would find other reasons to kill each other, religion is just a particularly nasty beast.

By proxy, social animals cooperate when there's no indication they practice any form of religion. Why would they need to?

The trick is to demonstrate how our cooperation is any different from dolphins working together to catch fish, or monkeys when they pool their efforts to increase their own chances of survival. If you mean cooperate on a macro-scale, sure, people get behind anything, football teams for instance. Us VS Them mentality rules.
